unfathomable! there is no other way to describe what has happened to us in the past three days. almost everyone i know, including the republicans i work with, expected that we would indeed elect a new president tuesday. i went to bed upset that night, and dear E looked as though he would burst into tears at any moment. he really took it the hardest.
in the office on wednesday i overheard one republican saying that she is really afraid that 'they' elected an ultra-conservative right-wing christian congress. yet she was ecstatic she helped to elect bush to a second horrible term in office. i fail to see how she does not connect the radical christian right-wingers and her beloved dubya: are they not one and the same? it proves to me that most bushies really are blind about their candidate. my brother included. the christian agenda will dominate this administration, and within ten years the usa will become a religious state not unlike the islamic republic, though ultra christian instead of muslim.
i've thought more and more about fleeing to canada or europe. i am not sure that is the answer. for me, my answer will be civil disobediance. i will not subject myself or my life to their ways or they will. however, if i can talk E into moving abroad then perhaps we can start over. it feels like a republican nuclear winter has begun. america has unleashed a warhead on itself.
