quitter!

i was finally allowed to resign, in the same sense as someone finally being allowed to vote in an election. bossman returned to the office on tuesday from a conference in new york followed by a meeting in south carolina [culture shock!]. people were lined up outside of his office all day long so i patiently waited...and waited...and waited. until five o'clock. then i saw he was in the office alone, so i marched in, closed the sliding door behind me and just let it out, "there's no easy way to do this so i will just come out and tell you i am here to resign."

i was amazed that i had gotten that far. i had been practising all weekend to build up the courage to resign. i'm not a very courageous person, and so having made it into his office with resignation in hand was a huge step. not that i've never resigned before, but i've never been in a position where i got to choose between two good jobs. i'm not disgruntled in this firm; but i am underpaid for the job i do. the new job offered me a huge salary boost, is more glamourous of an office, and lots of other things that i've listed in my pros/ cons list that i made before i accepted their offer. at one point in the day i emailed to E that icouldn't go through with the resignation and he emailed me back alot of confidence boosting. who knew you could get a confidence boost via email these days?!

in the end, bossman refused to read or accept my resignation letter, instead asking me to hold on to it for "a day or two" until he decides what to do. yesterday i was completely ignored by all of the partners, save for the socially-challenged partner that told me he wanted to kick my ass. don't worry, he's scrawny and frail like a plucked chicken. today was the day of tag-teaming me in the office. side note here: this is not a sexual fantasy posting so rid your filthy minds of those images and thoughts of yours truly getting tag teamed by large, handsome muscle bears with hairy chests and tattoos. in the tag-teaming i was bombarded with all sorts of questions about what i wanted and when i wanted it [again, rid your minds of those thoughts!] and how much i needed to stay. i told them the standing offer and each one in turn had a stroke.

tomorrow is the day of the counter offer. i can't wait for that! at least it's friday and i've a new bottle of finlandia in the freezer waiting to comfort me and give me strength...

It frightens me how quickly you digressed into your naughty bear story.

Who is this "plucked chicken"? Does he realize the peril he is in? I have had to restrain my asian girl teenage assassin(you'll recognize her from her role in "Kill Bill) from gravely injuring him to protect your virtue!

You did exactly what you had to do. More on. You're doing so on your own terms. You will come out better as a result of your action. I am very proud of you, stud.

For what it's worth, I would have done exactly the same thing. A guy feels violated when he's taken advantage of. You got to stand up for what you believe. You did just that, and I'm proud of you.
Big hairy muscle hugs. Wishing you all the best.
