a bad date

on september eleventh, seventeen seventy-six, benjamin franklin, along with john adams and edward rutledge met with british lord howe on staten island [new york] in a last-ditch effort to end the rebellion in the american colonies. the meeting would be fruitless and after a long and bloody war, america would become an independent, but becoming a united nation would take another thirteen years.

interesting that two hundred and twenty-five years later there was another attempt to end the american "colonies" and again america found herself engaged in a long and bloody war. it seems that the date of september eleven has long been associated with fighting and war waging. unfortunately.

i wonder how these united states will fare on the far side of thes war? will america once again come together and offer true freedoms for all citizens? or will america revert back to the "good old days" and become a loose collection of religious states? thirteen years. i'm not so sure i can wait that long.
