give the gift of gab

last night i started my very first formal spanish lesson.

it was a gift from E for my birthday. i figured if i am going to become part of his family, who is one hundred percent puerto rican, that i might as well learn a little spanish as i go along. especially since we are going to the family reunion on the island in july.

so for three evenings a week i will force myself through immersion lessons of latin american spanish. besides, living in texas, there are certainly less-useful languages to know. let's see: finnish, swedish and french come to mind, but i already know those so...even though i speak a damn lot of finnish and swedish here. so imagine how much spanish i will speak.

i found there was no better gift ever given to me than the gift of gab in another language. i love to speak. i love to speak in other languages. one of these days someone will figure all of this out and try to shut me up.

until then, repeat after me:: una muchacha ensima de un caballo.
