taped off

my morning started rather late this morning. i won't mention the exact reason i was late getting out of bed, but what finally ripped me from my slumber was an text message sent to my cell phone. it was from my best friend D, the princess of boston. in short he said that he had a fabulous workout this morning to the disco remix of "rock the boat."

i should have sent a reply warning him that if he were to rock the boat, not to tip the boat over, as the furry leg warmers i was certain he wore during his workouts would cause him to sink like a stone. as i stumbled to the shower, that song popped into my head. i knew i had it on a tape somewhere in a box in my closet. i have lots of songs on lots of tapes in my closet.

then suddenly, the song that is on that very tape before "rock the boat" suddenly popped into my head. "a world of lust and crime. see the postman in the graveyard scream and cry a different story. lonely people blah blah blah..."

the tragedy greater than the fact that yours truly cannot sing is that damn song has been trapped in my head all day long, like a looping track that won't end. and i don't even know the name of the song or who sings it. christ on a crutch my obsessive compulsive tendencies really get in the way some times. so until the next song pops in my head, this tape will be in the stereo and the song in my head "see the postman in the graveyard scream and cry a different story. lonely people blah blah blah..." thanks D!
