i will return. i flew back from boston on labour day, the unofficial end of summer time, and, as if on cue, what seems like autumn has started here in north central texas: cooler weather, grey skies, rain. who really knows if it is here to stay, but it was a fitting end to what has been a strange and unsettled summer. for me at least. for this being the year of orangepaperbike, the summer seems to not have belonged to me.
i have felt a little disconnected from the world this summer: i have spent nearly the entire summer searching: soul-searching, home searching, job searching, city-searching, hell, even sex-searching, and in the end i turned up where i began and with as many answers as before: zero. i can't explain what i am searching for. it's feelings mostly: the feeling that i want to live elsewhere: the united kingdom, france, canada, chicago, san francisco...perhaps this feeling of discontent and disconnect will pass with the season.
