by day or by night?

the weekend in dallas was, like most others, quite unremarkable. the thermometer finally reached the triple digits, and as luck would have it, it was the day my car decided to have an electrical system meltdown. in the driveway of a house that some friends were looking to buy. under a giant tree.

so there i was, sweltering in my car, fending off mosquitos, waiting for roadside assistance when the owner returned and asked me what i was doing. how do you explain a white man sitting in a shady spot in his car under a giant tree, sweating profusely, moving his arms this way and that? from the outside i am certain it looked like i was jacking off in my car. it was, after all, a private street in an affluent neighbourhood. but i wasn't and luckily roadside assistance showed up thirty seconds later.

unfortunately, my car is still in hospital [thanks for asking!] having a transplant of some sort. please, no cards or flowers. and no worries, i have a surrogate in the meantime. then, as if by fate, when i went to dinner at a fine chinese establishment last night my fortune cookie gave me this gem of a fortune:

visit a park. enjoy what nature has to offer.

of course, being a vaguely sweet cookie, it didn't tell me if i should visit a park in the daytime, or nighttime. or even which park to visit. i better wait for the sun to go down, since it'll be somewhat cooler. and hotter at the same time.
