dim sum, dim sum more....

i flew to san francisco to meet up with E who'd been in california all week for his quarterly trip. my flight out there was a part of my birthday present from E.

i hadn't been to san francisco in over twelve years. or right at twelve years, as i was there the week before my dad passed away.
i had forgotten how absolutely incredible that city is. it's always been at the top of my most-beautiful-cities-in-the-us list, but this time i was able to be gay, gay GAY[!], instead of showing a cousin visiting from finland a good time.

we stayed in this precious boutique hotel right in the city, apparently that senator feinstein is rumoured to have a hand in owning. good for her: it is a lovely place, newly renovated, and the front desk guy T loved me! always referred to me as mister W, but never bothered to get E's name.

we had a great dinner at this fab restaurant, right on market street. funny that my mom called me while we were in the cab heading toward the castro. she mentioned that as a young woman, she and her friends would always dress up and catch the train into the city. they'd walk down market street in dresses and high-heels, shopping, then on to fisherman's wharf for dinner.

i told her that now, in the twenty-first century, even i could walk down market street as a young woman [tranny!] in high-heels and a dress, shopping, but that i'd skip fisherman's wharf, though, since i am allergic to shellfish, i've had crabs a few times and would rather not ever have them again, and i don't do fish!

we met up with most of the group of guys we met on our france bike trip last fall. it was incredible to see them. the restaurant where we ate was french cuisine and brought back alot of memories and conversation topics from our bike trip.

the next morning we met a one of the couples for dim sum. E had never had dim sum and the restaurant where R and D took us was top-notch. all in all, i hated leaving the city. it felt like i'd just arrived. but i promise to come back and stay longer. E and i even talked of a plan to move there. hmmm....perhaps one day soon.
