E and i took an early tgv from avignon to paris this morning in order to get to our hotel and out in the city before it got too late. a few other guys from our bike trip were on the same train so we ended up sitting in the bar car having croque monsieurs and coffee. we agreed to all meet up tomorrow night for dinner in the sixth arrondissement.
our hotel is in the eleventh arrondissement, near the bastille. we took a taxi from the gare lyon. even the taxi driver asked me why E's luggage was so heavy. hmmm, i'm not sure he understood when i told him it was all rocks and wine. and i was telling the truth. the weather today was beautful. we left the hotel as soon as we'd checked in and dumped the luggage. we first found the picasso museum and it was a such great compilation of his entire life. of course, we no more than stepped out of the museum and a torrential downpour caught us off guard. so we ducked into a small book shop, along with several dozens more people who had the same idea, to browse the books until the rain ended.
we met up with a friend of a friend of E's for dinner. he's french, this guy C, and he brought two hetero friends. we all went to dinner and out for a few drinks afterwards. it was a nice time and good to be shown around a little by some locals. plus i think he's cute. he has a nice package, too, certain to be uncut. but he has a boyfriend as well. oh well, so do i. nice to fantasize, though.
right now, back in our hotel, it's three am, the windows are open [since it's hotter than hades outside] and we are being forced to endure the drunken conversation of two aussie "sheilas" chat each other up. they are too damned loud and one man has already told them to shut up. good for him; drunk aussie girls annoy the fuck out of me. especially at three a.m!
tomorrow we see the rest of the sites!
