when i first arrived in england for my long-overdue vacation i sent my mother a text message to let her know i'd made it safely. i never expected her to return a message, but she did, which started a dialogue, via text, between the two of us:

o.p.b.: arrived safe & sound. i love you. will call when i get back...

mom: goodtohear

o.p.b.: i'm so happy you just sent your first text msg. yahoo!

mom: whowouldhaveeverbelievedit

o.p.b.: now if we can figure out to get some spaces in there...

mom: im

mom: i'm working on it.

o.p.b.: i'm so proud of you!
